🌵 From Heels to Hats: My Unexpected Texas Style Adventure

I recently traveled to Texas for the Urban Air conference, representing the franchise where I work as Marketing Manager. I was joined by my husband and his business partner, ready for a few days of learning, networking… and, apparently, a surprise fashion awakening.

We stayed at the incredible Hotel Drover, Autograph Collection, in Fort Worth, just outside of Dallas. From the moment I walked in, I felt like I had stepped into a high-end cowboy movie set. The scent of leather and luxury perfume welcomed us, and every detail—from the walls to the lobby furniture—oozed old Western elegance. Think: rich wood, western art, and that iconic Texan charm.

I booked our stay (along with our flights) using Skyscanner, my go-to travel tool. It always finds me the best deals, compares prices across dozens of sites, and saves me so much time. Highly recommend it if you’re a planner like me—or even if you’re not!

But the real surprise wasn’t just the hotel.

It was the fashion.

Even though it was 80 degrees, everyone—men and women—was rocking cowboy boots, denim, big belts, and bold makeup. The women looked like they stepped off a rodeo runway with luxurious handbags and fierce confidence. The men wore hats, button-downs, and boots like it was part of their DNA. And I thought: “Wait, is this every day or just Sunday?”

Turns out… it’s every day.

By Monday morning, at 7:30 AM, the hotel lobby was still a sea of boots and hats. At the conference? Same. I joked to myself, “Oops, I forgot my horse!”

After two days of being fully immersed in the Texas vibe (and maybe a few rounds of tequila tastings), I caved—in the best way. I bought a cowboy hat, a belt, and a fringed dress.

On the final night of the conference, I did my hair, put on the full outfit, and walked into the party feeling 100% Texan—confident, radiant, and loving every moment of it.

✨ What I Learned:

  • Boots in Texas? Not a seasonal thing—it’s a lifestyle.
  • Fashion is a cultural expression, and in Texas, it’s worn with pride and presence by both men and women.
  • A good outfit can change your confidence—and sometimes, embracing a new style is the best kind of adventure.
  • Skyscanner is a travel game-changer if you want to book smarter, faster, and save money.

Would I go back? Absolutely. But next time, I’m packing boots first.
